How to increase dopamine and endorphins to feel better with cold baths

Additionally, authoritative health source FoundMyFitness summarized the same study and clearly stated that norepinephrine levels increased by 530% and dopamine by 250% with 1 hour of cold water exposure.

The result?

• You feel clearer in your head.
• You get energy to tackle things
• You enjoy performing more
• You focus better

That's why so many cold bathers say:
"I feel kind of new in my head afterwards."

What do endorphins do?

Endorphins = the body's own pain relief + happy pill in one.
They are released during physical stress – like cold water.

When they kick in, you feel:

• Less pain
• A warm calm, despite the cold
• Joy and euphoria
• The feeling of: “I did it!”

It's like a runner's high ... but without having to run.

Bonus: Other happy hormones affected by cold baths

Serotonin

• Stabilizes mood
• Reduces anxiety
• Helps you sleep better

Noradrenaline

• Increases alertness
• Sharpens focus
• Provides a calm drive in the body

Together they create a chemical cocktail that makes you feel alert, calm and pleasantly satisfied – completely naturally.

Does it have to be freezing cold? How long should you swim for?

No, it doesn't have to be extreme.
Water between 8–12 degrees is sufficient.
Start with 30–60 seconds – it is better to bathe frequently than for long.

Continuity beats extreme cold.

Better 30 seconds a day for 30 days – than 5 minutes once every two weeks.
